Bamboo from the garden and scaled down carps from the daily used tableware find their way into this series with an emphasis on brooches.

Peter Hoogeboom's work is often labelled as ethnografic, which it is not. For this series he deliberately drew inspiration from his weekly visits to the Chinese shops, that he has been frequenting since his he was a teenager. A familiar world, but at the same time foreign.

Fascinated by the exotic foods and the particular and traditional packaging for saving or carrying it, Peter played with the concept of ethno. He made a series that looks Chinese, but which merely tells about experiences in his own country with materials found in his own environment. Pieces, in which he makes the wearer carry the merchandise.
